The concept of time is unique to every individual in some way. However I feel that though time is always present and controls much of what we do on a daily basis. It is uncommon to think about what it means outside of the constraints of our invented and scheduled time shown in clocks and calendars. This series of three books, Time: Defined, Measured, Valued, begins to make this abstract and very vast concept tangible. Using imagery from my personal documented time and text from interviews with family, friends, and acquaintances, I have collected throughout the past few months, I wanted to make something that could communicate this idea in a new way. Each book takes on a different form to show the exploration of time in three terms. Defined is accordion, it unfolds to show multiple moments from my day-to-day life this year. Measured allows you to flip through and see time changing through seasons, and durations that I felt time was very present. The final book is in the form of a box that holds the pages of Valued, it meant to show something personal that someone would preserve. I hope to encourage readers to slow down and begin to reflect on what time means to them.
