Queue is an app that allows local customers reserve limited edition, overseas clothing items and accessories from small, independent clothing stores in Hong Kong. The purpose of the app is to create a fair platform for local customers to purchase their wanted clothing items. Hong Kong currently has a huge market of professional resellers, who line up for any limited edition item that would be released in Hong Kong and resell these items for a much higher retail price on bidding sites like eBay. This creates a large problem for customers who desire these items, as they do not have time to line up and become extremely frustrated about the inflated prices of these items on platforms such as eBay. Small businesses would eventually lose out on their customers if they were apathetic of the situation. Hong Kong customers are well aware of the poor business ethics conducted by the small businesses that condone the behavior of professional resellers. In addition, small businesses would also benefit from the app as they could keep track of the demand and supply of their stock through the app. Small businesses would also be able to benefit from the app if they are employing the FIFO (First in, First out) model, which is used by many small businesses in Hong Kong. Reservations are limited to a certain time-frame. Customers who are confirmed for their reservations have a limited amount of time to purchase the reserved item. If they do not make it on time, the reservation is passed onto the next customer. This is to ensure fairness for customers as well as prevent the small businesses from suffering losses.
