Everything in conditioned existence is in a state of flux. CUSP aims to dissect the idea of change on a personal existential level. It attempts to find a pattern or map within the phenomena of change and meditates on whether an individual can use this map to interpret their particular state in flux. Things that appear fluid or random have inherent structures and rhythms. Often times we meditate on the patterns of events that have occurred in our lives and why we came to make certain decisions. Change in essence is a journey. Joseph Campbell a mythologist, created the Monomyth that attempts to map the metaphysical journey of a protagonist. The ancient chinese also studied patterns of events and complied it into “The Book of Changes.” Inspired by this, I created my own interactive map that breaks down the stages of change through a web application. It helps its user by first determining what stage of change they are in, through a series of prompts and then offers the user a piece of advice that might help them in their particular situation. CUSP does not offer fact or power but a source of comfort to lovers of self knowledge and of wisdom. It aims to offer an easy admonition to the careful scrutiny of one’s own character, beliefs, attitudes and motives.
