This project is an exploration of grid-based typography and the ways in which it can mutate and animate. An alphabet in upper and lowercase, numbers, and punctuation was constructed using a grid that is eleven units tall and five units wide. It includes a cursor for editing as well as a feature for controlling the weight by moving the mouse across the screen. It includes these sections: “Static,” a typing tool with no animation; “Width,” where the width of each letter is randomly generated and animated; “X-height,” where the x-height of entire input is randomly generated and animated; “Random,” where the x-height and width of each letter is randomly generated and animated; and “All,” where the width, height, weight, x-height, curve, tracking, and grid gap spacing are randomly generated and animated.
