Angel Pena was in the South Twin Tower on September 11, 2001. He was passionate, dedicated, hardworking and my father. I have little memory of Angel and have heard more stories of him than I have of my own. After my father’s passing, letters flooded my mother’s mailbox—she saved every one of them. This is the collection of notes and newspapers from the family, friends, and community of Angel Pena. I have read and scanned them with the hopes of getting to know my father more. Memories from the letters have been pulled out and placed next to intimate family photos to show the love and compassion of the man I was blessed to know for the first eight years of my life. While I may never get to speak with him again or hear his voice, Angel’s story will be shared and his spirit will live on through the smiles of his loved ones.
