What does it mean to live in hope? Hope is the will to believe that something will turn out for better in the end. Hope is what drives people in their everyday activities. Without hope, one wouldn’t be able to survive. We all live in hope. My project focuses on the notion that people of everyday life live in hope and drives on their hope for betterment. It is a group of selected photographs taken from 2009 to 2012 in Manhattan, New York from the lights of Times Square to the quietness of the Upper East Side, from high as Inwood to as low as Battery Park City. My photographs depict the reality of New York and the hope New Yorkers have or share that they thrive on every day. The art book is bound in canvas and handsewn. The hand stitching tells the readers about my personal experience taking the photographs. The size of the book tells the reader that the importance of the photos showcased inside. I want to bring out the beauty of everyday life in these pictures.
