Halmouni is a documentary that was made using motion graphics and the chroma keying method. This film documents the daily life of the creator’s grandmother who lives with dementia. Dementia is a condition which causes people to lose their brain functions which affects their memory, thinking, judgment, and behavior. Sometimes her memory loss creates confusion and she frequently asks ‘Where am I? Am I in Korea?’ Dementia manifests itself randomly, creating dangerous situations, for instance causing her to get lost on her way home or forgetting to turn off the stove. While some people may think that her life is miserable, she refuses to be pitied because she enjoys her life even through her struggles. She even forgets that she has had difficult moments, allowing her to live again the next day. Halmuoni shows the daily life of a grandmother with dementia that might not look blissful to normal people, but it shows the happy moments that can still be experienced even with dementia.
