‘Revolution doesn’t happen when society adopts new technologies — it happens when society adopts new behaviors.’ —Clay Shirky, 2008 At Amplify, we are acutely aware that cur- rent technology affords us amazing solutions to the world’s most complex problems. From revolutions in renewable energy to cures for the worst diseases, we rely on the notion that the big problems are being tackled. But the most paradigm-shifting changes happen when society imposes its awesome power onto its environment, rending the foundations of what once was, and opening space for new conceptions of life. We are fortunate to live in an age in which the shackles of autocracy rust away, and where the popular voice makes itself heard time and again on the global theater. At Amplify, we determine the most effective methods of action for the concerned and the passionate to take into their own hands the transformative power of the crowd. We provide opportunities for involvement that range the spectrum of commitment, from petitioning and canvassing to volunteering and donations. We tie the safest and most effective organizations with the causes reported about in the media. We understand that when the issues you care about are far from home, priorities can’t help but shift, and that time available for getting involved is limited by our own routines. With that in mind, we built a smart, simple way to act on the issues you care about, without risking the life you chose. Amplify the change.
