A Space to Remember is a photographic documentary that examines how design can support caregiving in the context of memory loss. This project documents the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) my family built as an extension of our home for my grandmother following her dementia diagnosis. As her relationship to memory and time began to shift, we considered how the construction of her new home could foster both safety and comfort. Through images and reflections, the book highlights the intentional design decisions that shaped the home, while exploring the broader role of caregiving.
