m3m0ry is an interactive web experience that explores the connection between scent, emotion, and shared memory. Smell is unique in that it is the only sense that connects directly to the part of the brain responsible for emotion and memory, which is why a familiar scent can instantly transport you back to a specific moment, person, or place. Despite this, scent is rarely documented the way images, sounds, or words are. m3m0ry aims to change that. By guiding users through a short calibration process of identifying a scent category, choosing a familiar smell, selecting an emotion, and writing down the memory it surfaced, the project builds a collective archive of scent-triggered memories contributed by real people. Each entry becomes part of a growing, shared record that captures something deeply personal yet surprisingly universal: the way a smell can hold an entire moment in time.
