People are beings that innately understand the power of visual language. Through visual elements such as patterns, colors, and objects, people are able to convey what they are truly feeling without having to speak. Emotion is a set of hand-illustrated cards that utilize the power of visual language to cross language or emotional boundaries. Users are able to create a selection of objects and colors tailored to their personal preferences on a website, where each person stores and creates their own unique set of visual language.
Through a series of surveys, I found that people tend to react differently to the same object. The cards represent four emotions (happiness, sadness, anger, disgust) with the most nuances. A larger study group would be able to create additional emotional categories as well. The process of choosing objects to represent an emotion allows people to playfully engage with and bring out their innermost feelings and hidden thoughts. I aim to encourage self-expression, introspection, and creativity in a fun and visually pleasing way.
