This project collects data on the growing ecological crisis happening throughout the ocean. Ocean Data particularly touches on issues such as coral bleaching, oil spillage, trash islands, and microplastic, which are topics that directly and indirectly affect our daily lives.
The navigation of this site is a set of floating icons that represent the different environmental issues that negatively impact the ocean. The dull color and texture throughout the website visually represent the dying ocean and aim to alert the viewers as they scroll through the visualizations.
Instead of using the typical charts and graphs, I want to articulate the problematic and seriousness of the ecological crisis with interactive visualizations. The project engages users with dynamic animations, allowing them to interact and immerse themselves in the data visualizations. The website includes features such as mouse interactions that allow users to zoom in and orbit around the visualizations.
