The name of this project is Fish Eye, referring to the small black and white dots in the Tai Chi diagram. It represents cultivating a certain degree of bad in all perfection, and cultivating a certain degree of good in the worst environment, just like my college life.
During my four years studying abroad, I experienced the acquisition of exciting new skills and experiences, but also encountered disappointment and confusion. The four years of studying abroad have been both grand and chaotic, just like New York itself, full of extreme beauty and misfortune.
This book is divided into two parts. The first half is red and white, symbolizing passion, describing the beautiful things in New York life. The other half is blue and black, representing depression, describing the worst aspects of life in New York. These two parts are balanced and opposed to each other, demonstrating the duality of things.
For the pages I used different grid systems in terms of selection. My layout and content are closely related. For every story, I use pictures and text to interweave with each other. For example, using a text template to mimic the main body of a nearby photo, cutting out a photo and filling the remaining with text, or using newspapers layouts for the grid. I also added pages with large blank space after each page that is filled with a large amount of images and text. This can also allow readers to relax their eyes after reading.
