XTRAMEDIUM seeks to start a conversation about our perception of how we can wield media. In the current landscape, our perspective of media holds clear divisions between realms of the visual, auditory, digital, analog, perfect, and imperfect. In an attempt to forego those boundaries, this project draws inspiration from the ethos of glitch art, tossing information into places they don’t belong; documenting the exploration of unconventional techniques to manipulate data in spaces they aren’t intended to “exist”. Ultimately, by converting digital images to analog audio and bending information that previously existed in the digital world through physical means, this journey involves unnatural alterations to data through fundamentally natural processes.
