I have a memory obsession. I fear forgetting and get anxious when I acknowledge when I am forgetful.
Growing up, I shared a close relationship with my grandfather, however, witnessing his eventual memory decline due to Alzheimer's disease deeply affected me and intensified my fear of losing cherished memories. In my journey of preserving memories through the collection of photos, I delve into the impact of my struggle with parting with possessions, driven by a familial fear of Alzheimer’s disease. This exploration of "memory obsession" not only reveals its influence on my personal life but also illuminates its significant role in shaping my identity as both an individual and as an artist.
Through visual storytelling, resource curation, and creative endeavors, I seek to share how I've developed a deep-seated memory obsession and a fear of losing those cherished recollections. My aim is to offer viewers a glimpse into the experience of memory loss by showcasing my personal photos and conveying the emotional impact it has on me. In doing so, I hope to foster a deeper understanding of the profound effects of memory loss and the relentless pursuit to preserve moments before they fade away.
