American History reframes recreational tourism as an act of American colonization, as seen through the lens of mid-century period photos and tourism advertisements.
Drawing inspiration from the design aesthetics of mid-century travel imagery and using archival photos from my great-grandparent's travel photo archive that spans the 1950s through the 1980s, I constructed souvenirs that highlight the original Indigenous names of notable tourist destinations in North America.
