Did you have dreams when you were younger but had to give it up when you grew older? We have all given up some of our childhood dreams throughout the journey of life, and many of us have questions hidden in the depths of our hearts: Who would I be if I chose to pursue the dreams I gave up? Would my life be different if I focused on my passions?
As a kid, I loved to sketch, paint, doodle, and dreamed of becoming a painter. But this dream withered away when my parents insisted I focus on studying and give up on drawing. Abandoning what I loved became a regret, as I fantasized about a different life: I didn’t let them control me over what I truly love. To encourage myself and all the other people that share the same regret with me, I wrote a story: My Renaissance.
My Renaissance is an interactive fiction app about a college student picking up drawing chases after their childhood dream of becoming a painter. The audience has an immersive reading experience by having the freedom to jump around chapters, browsing messages from different characters, and playing mini-games. The story includes the difficulties of facing troubles, and the joy brought by passion during the dream-chasing adventure. With these elements, My Renaissance brings the encouragement of making their dream come true and leads the audience to the reminiscence of their own dreams that were left in the past.
