Most, if not all of us have experienced the pipeline that begins with lust, leads to love, and ends in heartbreak. We’ve seen Sleepless in Seattle, Pretty Woman and When Harry Met Sally, and we’ve all sat on our couch wondering when we'll casually lock eyes with our forever person on the subway. Thank you Hollywood, my expectations are high, and romance is nowhere to be found.
Walking the streets of New York City, I took snapshots of the sentiments I’d find in garbage, bumper stickers, novelty balloons and hallmark cards. Naturally, after experiencing both love and heartache, the signs were charged with meaning. Every metaphorical representation of a love I hoped was forever, made me realize that I too, can see my life as the corniest of rom-coms.
If you’ve ever experienced the roller coaster of blossoming feelings, and the aftermath of having your heart broken, then I hope this project of photo analogies, made possible by your average city street crap, resonates.
