The one thing all Americans seem to agree on is that the political divide in American politics has increased every year. This publication explores how consumer design reflects and influences American politics, shining light on how this divide has trickled down to even the stores we shop at, the products we consume, the fonts we use, the colors we gravitate towards, and the textures we touch.
Through various design investigations and data collection methods such as image collection, design surveys, data analysis, and original renditions of what politically-divided-consumer brands and other items could be in the near future, the information within this publication can be a reference for designers and the general population alike on how to spot and even create their own identity systems. Whether or not this information should be a warning or a reference to create more inclusive or exclusive consumer design is up to the reader.
