Music and Design go hand in hand for the longest we can remember. Icons like Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, and Green Day, each have spearheaded and challenges the boundaries of genre while holding a distinct, unified, memorable look throughout their albums and projects. Archival Expression aims to help musicians of color focus more on storytelling by alleviating the stressors of creating an album artwork. Archival Expression looks back throughout history at some of music’s icons across the 12 main genres and sources design inspiration from each genre, informing a prototype of a generative application where an artist can come in with basic information about his song (artist name, project name, and an image) and walk away with a generated piece of album/project artwork.
