For millennial designers, digital toolbox icons are just what they are, icons. However, for those who are experienced in paste-up design, each of these symbols represents a tool that was irreplaceable in analog graphic design. Made by Hand is an animation focusing on the design processes and methods that were universally employed before the popularity of digital design programs. By showing the entire process of a paste-up project and transforming symbols from the digital world to actual tools, the project aims to provide a window to this influential era of graphic design history that’s slowly being forgotten.
