Oftentimes the incentive for completing work in design school is either to be graded or to improve, and most students don’t even consider marketing work they’ve made for school. I consider student work to be an untapped market, and I’d like to take advantage of the wealth of student work, which usually gathers dust at home after it has been turned in.
The objective of this project is to provide a platform for college students to promote and market their work, and to give buyers the opportunity to own limited edition and one-of-a-kind student work. I intend to provide this service via a website, which I’ve constructed to meet the needs of both the seller and the buyer. Students have the opportunity to upload their work onto the website, also on a daily basis, representatives of the website meet with students and faculty at participating universities in order to maintain a healthy collection of treasured and unique artwork. Buyers have the ability to filter student work by date, school, and major. These categories enable the buyer to quickly browse and purchase goods relevant to their interests.
I will be devising a marketing campaign to promote and populate the website with student work. This campaign will involve classroom visits, fliers, and recommendations to submit by professors.
