What we see shapes what we perceive. The content of a text determines the information we receive, but the appearance of the text also plays a decisive role in how we understand it. Legibility, color, and the use of blank space – our perception of a piece of information is affected by elements in graphic design. In this project, In Progress, elements that affect the display of the text are categorized and presented in different sections. This not only isolates the effect that each element generates, but also demonstrates the effect of default settings. Besides showing and educating how a single element in graphic design could affect the overall look of the text body in different mediums and scales, this project examines how reading can be influenced by visual treatments applied through a systematic way of thinking.
