Blue Flowers

The word blue flower means the patterns on the blue and white pottery, which is an iconic cultural symbol of ancient China. The blue and white pottery was widely used to document stories and also used for decoration thousand years ago.
Inspired from its classical decorative patterns, this project tries to preserve the tradition and reinterpret the vintage graphics with a new aesthetic. The characters from the pottery are redesigned in a minimal and cartoon style. Modern furniture, electronics, vehicles, and other objects are added to create a modern atmosphere. Each scenes are set up to interact with others, making them an interrelated whole to depict a fairly complex scene.
The final graphic is animated and projected on gallery wall to allow a more immersive experience. This project attempts to reminisce the idealized life in ancient time and brings the old patterns closer to modern life. It also provides a brand new image of blue and white pottery making it more appealing to younger generation.
