Every sixty years, the United States has entered an episodic period. During these four periods, the values of our nation play a more central role in our lives. We feel aroused, agitated, and politicized, as if our country has fallen out of sync with itself.
The Fifth creates a tactile identity for this new period using scanned construction paper cutouts and handmade stop motion animation to mirror the physicality of protest. This identity demonstrates its functionality across several mediums, including, video, web, print, and other products. The website tells the stories of the previous periods and also offers downloadable PDFs of the cutout shapes used, encouraging the audience to reimagine America and create their own fifth period animation.
The Fifth welcomes us to this new period and encourages political involvement. Its call to action is for everyone to find out how they can get involved. Choose your cause and take a stand!
