Though many people are not religious, the aesthetics and concepts of a religion, such as Buddhism, could enrich the lives of many, and help them become calmer and more tolerant in their daily lives. This project is aimed at helping more people understand the basic concepts of Buddhism.
The first approach is to create a basic educational book about thangka, while the book itself is designed in the creative form of thangka. The second approach is to use data visualization to present the Buddhist concepts/terms and their relationships to one another. The project takes the form of a series of posters that combine the data visualization graphs and traditional Buddhism elements such as buddha sculptures, thangkas, and documentary photo of practices to create a modern tone for a poster series. Supplementary text in each poster provides information about the mentioned Buddhism concepts in the poster.
