Every time consumers buy a product they are consciously consuming an aspect of the country that made them, whether they know it or not. This project seeks to highlight the global perception of artisans and their craft worldwide. A cultural experience should be embedded in the many artistic expressions that a country has through their artisans.
There is an opportunity for local experiences to meet global consciousness. Made In’s collective and primary mission is to emphasize culture through craft and introducing artisans in a global conversation.
Made In aims to educate and raise awareness of a specific country’s culture through artisanal craftsmanship. The packaged box allows consumers to customize their own by selecting from the diverse handcrafted goods specific to the location they’re visiting. Each handmade product is sourced directly from a selected country’s association of artisans, ensuring products are thoughtfully designed and ethically made. These products not only portray the handmade process of each piece, but propose a new way to give artisans access to the global market. Beyond the box as a gift or souvenir, the ultimate purpose is for travelers to become conscious of who produced the products they are purchasing and specifically in what country they were made in.
