Receiving a daily dose of advertising cannot be stopped even with the most efficient ad blocker. We wake up to a full page ad on the cover of a newspaper, stare up at the subway ads on our way to work and walk on streets with more billboards than people. On average we are exposed to 5,000 ads per day, and yet, we cannot recall even a tiny percentage of them, resulting in a phenomenon called banner blindness. Advertisements are important for brands, but millennial consumers have lost trust in the advertising industry. They are believers of user reviews and recommendations more than marketing tactics.
SponsAR is an app that allows a consumer to interact with an existing ad by getting to know the truth behind a company through augmented reality. The platform offers a new honest pitch through augmented reality layers on different advertising mediums like OOH, online, YouTube, radio and print. This immersive platform allows sponsAR’s millennial users to see the truth behind the artificial layers of consumerism.
SponsAR turns advertisements into a marketing reality show with unscripted storylines in front of a live audience. This project aims to make advertisements honest again by empowering consumers to target ads and gain control over the message.
