The internet has reduced interaction between people, and the global pandemic has even increased interpersonal distance and reduced communication through social distancing. This project began by observing the behavior of peers. Due to the pandemic, people’s social circles are relatively limited by online applications, and they cannot meet other like-minded strangers through school and hobbies.
Groop is a mobile application that facilitates offline interaction for US college students during or after the post-pandemic era. Users can create or join study groups through their courses, and they can also create or join after-school activities based on their interests. With the help of this application, college students can enrich their campus life. The core theme of this application is a drop of water as a metaphor for a single user. The assembly of water drops becomes flowing water, which symbolizes the vitality that occurs when people are gathered together. The entire application is designed in bright colors with round containers and simple forms.
The emergence of the epidemic prompted the birth of this application, which fills a void in the market. This application will serve college students by helping them break through their comfort zones and alleviate their social fears.
