We are not born with a mindset. We have to practice a certain mindset we want to acquire, and our mindset develops as we age. Being mindful and in focus are critical skills that not many people have nowadays with the constant distractions from social media and technology.
Consequently, I wanted to question how we might create a platform or a fun way of instilling mental mindfulness at a young age so that it would become habitual and natural to help them be more focused in the present and better cope with stress? To answer my question, I came up with a possible solution which is an analog interactive game called Unwind. The target audience is aged 8–10 because studies have reported that habits would take root by the age of 9. This game is to practice mindfulness with the little ones, friends, or alone. The entire game box is used for the game. Both the assembling and disassembling of the box are an activity that can be shared with the little ones. The box contains a set of five mindful books: Breathe, Focus, Imagine, Move, and Relax which includes twelve different exercises to practice in the respective categories. There will be a mat attached to the box for the child to sit on, a spinner on the bottom to choose a category and two dice to pick an exercise. In conclusion, I hope that the young-aged population would build a healthy mentality through mindful activities.
