There is power in expressing emotion. Motion and Emotion is a kinetic experiment of typography that explores the visual forms of type in movement. What does type look like when it’s moving? How can type be manipulated to express emotion? I designed a virtual space that uses the browser as the canvas. In Motion and Emotion the computer is my tool and social media my exhibition space. Through moving forms and typography we are connected.
Motion and Emotion gives a new meaning to the browser where we spend so much time in and connects people through motion graphics depicting emotions or complex desires. The emotions I chose to include are inspired by what many people felt in lockdown–feelings like claustrophobia and agitation to desires like dancing, kicking or playing. This digital universe acts as an optimistic antidote through typography and motion graphics. The type used on the motion graphics is meant to support or give more life to each emotion by restating each emotion. Motion and Emotion allows us to return to appreciating graphic design online for the sake of it, even when we feel saturated and overwhelmed by the digital world. We invite artists, graphic designers, students and people interested in exploring the endless possibilities that exist when manipulating type to join our movement.
