Real Life Angelz is an interview-based editorial project inspired by the iconic 2000s doll line, Bratz. This publication serves as a playful exploration of personal style, friendship, and self-expression.
Growing up, dolls were my outlet for creative expression and my introduction to fashion, photography, art and even design. This project serves to fulfill my desire to go back to those days of playing and pure creativity. Being a Bratz super-fan, I see the characters in people I meet everyday. The creator of Bratz originally referred to the dolls as “Angels” and, inspired by this, I decided to interview the Angels in my own life: best friends with "bratitude" of their own, fearless in the pursuit of their ambitions with great style!
The publication adds a unique twist to traditional magazine interviews by inviting interviewees to makeover a Bratz doll, transforming each doll using them as a medium for self-expression. This approach not only pays homage to the Bratz brand but also invites participants a chance to play.
The interviews focus on personal style, inspirations, hopes and dreams, their homes, the perfect day, and all our angelz faves so you get the best recommendations. You think you already know your friends, but through this project I learned things I never knew and it brought us so much closer! I’m so glad I got the chance to invite my friends into my world and it was so much fun.
