Phase Zero is an experimental-print-publication focused on creating a community while simultaneously providing a critique of the current counterculture in NYC. Acting as a time-capsule, Phase Zero documents the rapidly-evolving art scene, composed of art shows, music/DJ sets, and the ideologies that surround it. This publication resurrects the tangible qualities of print that have been abstracted by the emergence of a hyper-online culture rooted in social media. Everything is online—event flyers circulate through DMs, memes act as social unifiers, and Instagram feeds provide an intimate resume of personality and life achievements. By utilizing tactics of Punk fanzines in the '70s, Phase Zero exists ephemerally: through cut-and-paste flyers, monthly community meetings, and rapidly-printed magazines. Phase Zero is here to document, preserve, critique, and contradict.
