Using the concept of “making as a form of thinking,” [Working Title] is a meta-commentary on the process of creating itself. With research on hypertext, metaphors and spatial web as its central themes, it is a visualization and documentation of the recursive and self-referential nature of design and process to arrive at the final output.
By describing its own existence, [Working Title] lives as a spiral, turning in on itself to play on the idea of self-reflection and connections. The research dictates the design, while the design dictates the research, and so on. Ultimately, it is a non-linear digital environment for my personal thoughts and ideas. It includes an assortment of chapters from readings, learnings from colleagues’ theses, my own fragmented notes and the quest to find a connection between them all to come up with and build something.
[Working Title] uses research methods such as the Zettelkasten system for personal knowledge management to present both the linearity and nonlinearity of thoughts through deeply interwoven hypertext. It explores the spatial nature of the web and interaction by visualizing these connections and their cumulative nature. By letting viewers into the entire process, [Working Title] invites readers to start tracing the links between their thoughts. It is an experiment in creating something that has the capacity to build and talk about itself.
