Ashley sees strange things and receives a mysterious message that leads her to enter another world of both wonder and horror. She must find her way through a series of quadrants, battle her inner demons, and transform into who she is destined to become.
Find Me in the Mirror is an independent short film starring Ashley Fletcher, and is also entirely written, filmed, and edited by her. The film includes an array of art and design techniques such as filmography, photography, video editing, typeface design, puppetry, stop-motion, water color, weaving, felting, and many more. This film was shot with an iPhone using nearly all static shots due to the independence of Ashley’s film process. Creative production for this film included hair, makeup, costume design and creation, lighting, camera setup, as well as acting, all of which were done singularly.
The film explores how fantasy escapism can allow for transformation, relationship between past, present, and future self, and the discovery of personal freedoms. The fantasy world of Mirrorland gives the character of Ashley the space to experiment with her expression and identity while she follows various reflections of her future and past self.
With the use of green screen, black and white and color filters, music and sound, keyframe animations, and practical effects, this film takes you in and out of an original fantasy world made of pure imagination and childhood dreams.
